Like many people, Wally works a job he must, for people who who could care less, and for far less than he thinks he's worth.
He
works alongside his friend Basil in the IT industry. He lives with both
Basil and Duncan in true bachelor fashion. He expects to remain a
bachelor for some time as most of his romantic attachments end in ruin
-- for reasons he can't always understand.

Basil
has been Wally's closest friend since they were both in nursery school.
They have many common interests but choose to enjoy those things in
different ways. Basil is grounded more in the realm of intellect than
of imagination and cannot always understand his friend's whimsical
behaviour.
After spending many years in school,
Basil is now employed as a software developer -- a position he attacks
with enthusiasm because having a purpose in life is the most important
thing to him.

Marsha
Van Mees became acquainted with Wally, Basil, Duncan and Sheila soon
after she took up residence as Sheila's roommate. Although she has
little in common with Sheila and often disagrees with her point of
view, Marsha and Sheila remain friends and can be seen together
frequently.
Marsha has expressed a romantic interest in
Wally but so far has been frustrated in her attempts to be noticed by
him. The two have formed a very chummy relationship and Marsha fears
that either Wally can only ever see her as a friend, platonically as it
were, or worse, that he simply isn't interested in her that way.
Marsha
is employed as a graphic designer for the public access television
station that both Sheila and Duncan work for: Channel 13.

Sheila
is a very particular woman. She is at once very beautiful and very
intelligent but, tragically, surrounded by idiots and boors. Sheila
rarely refrains from speaking her mind and always, always, shoots from
the hip. Some find her manner abrupt, even rude, but those people are
not worth talking about, Sheila believes.
Sheila and Wally
were highschool sweethearts for several years until she realised that
Wally's vision of the future was not one that she could stomach. Her
termination of their engagement served to create a significant rift
between her and Wally, as one might expect, nonetheless the two have
friends in common and all too often circle one another in an
adversarial manner.
Sheila has found a certain kinship
with Basil in that he is the one person with whom she can converse on
an even level. The two are often together discussing politics,
religion, and everything else that comes to mind.

Duncan
came into the lives of Wally and Basil while they were looking for a
third person to room with in their University days. Before that, he was
known to them but it was during their communal "life of the college
guy" that their friendship was galvanized. Duncan works for the local
TV station (Channel 13 Action News!) as a cameraman and broadcast
technician. Career-wise, he's everywhere he wants to be.
Duncan
has a talent for saying exactly the right thing to cause exactly the
most negative reaction in most people. He has his own point of view and
a distinct way of doing things. He may be rough around the edges but
Duncan is an honest and loyal friend to Basil and Wally.
